I have heard from some people who were curious about what was going on with the blog. I guess it is time for me to come clean. I love RC’s. They are just what I need to relax, but winter here in Nova Scotia really is not the best time for me to enjoy the hobby as I am not a big fan of cold and/or snow. I dream of one day retiring down south. The RC posts will show up more often once the weather breaks and we can get back outside and up to the Halifax RC Park.
In the meantime, I needed something to do in the winter after I have cleaned up and put away my RC’s for the season. Late last winter I got into Model Railway and I find this the perfect winter hobby for me. In Model Railway I get to paint a blank canvas, just like coloring when I was a child. I get to build houses from plastic model kits, just like the model cars I spent hours building as a child. I get to manicure and landscape the ground, which reminds me of putting on my headphones and cutting the grass and weeding the lawn like I did when I was a teenager. I get to wire train track and lights for the buildings, which reminds me of installing car stereo’s in my latest piece of crap vehicle like I did when I was a teenager. I get to apply the patience and attention to detail that I have learned as adult and when you combine all of this, I find the many dimensions of this hobby very relaxing. All of that aside, it is really fun just to watch the trains go around, like I did when I was a kid.
You can follow my progress at Model Railway.
FYI, Not all of the RC’s are put away for the winter. Check back to tomorrow to see what Santa brought us.
