I don’t like seeing this type of thing done to a person or small business and it makes it especially difficult when it is done to a successful business. Mike’s Hobby Shop in Carrollton, Texas faces an uncertain future. The State of Texas wants to take part of the land the shop currently and for the past 26 years resides on, for the I-35 corridor expansion. The piece of land in question “Literally cuts through all 3 RC car tracks, rendering the entire facility useless in terms of its current operation.”
This sort of thing isn’t against the law and sadly is common practice in many parts of the world, I have seen it happen in my own community. It is difficult to try and stop progress, usually the best you can hope for in these circumstances is a far shake. It is hard to believe that the state of Texas can’t figure out a way to make this right. If you would like to try and help, there is currently an online petition Do Not Force A Family Hobby Center To Close .
