I have become pretty frustrated with the Velcro battery hold down straps that came with my TLR22 SCT. When the straps get dirty or a couple of months old, they do not do the job well. I have lost batteries mid race, I have had to go walk, pick up my battery pack and truck and make the walk of shame back to the pits. I now see that the straps are stretching, making it very difficult to get a good hold on the battery even when clean.
In my search for a solution I looked at the Exotek Strap and Battery Hold Set. This is a very nice looking piece of gear and I am very happy with my Exotek 22 Conversion Kit, but the price seemed a little high at $29.95 and after I saw $20.00 for shipping to Canada, I decided that $50 to my door was too much to spend. My next stop was TheToyz.com where I found the TLR 22 22T 22SCT Carbon Fiber Graphite Battery Hold Down. This carbon fiber piece is made by Hot Racing and has a price of $17.88. It uses thumb screws and allows me to get rid of the Velcro straps. It was delivered to my door for a total price of $23.00.
This was very easy to install even though it came without instructions. It is a nice looking and seems to be a well made piece, but more importantly, it does a great job of holding my batteries in place. I am so happy with it, that I have also ordered another one for my 2wd Slash that has the Pro-Line LCG, it will fit on that chassis as well. That is correct, it will fit on the Pro-Line Pro2 LCG.
