This isn’t really RC related, but it’s close enough and too cool to ignore. Anki is a startup A.I. and Robotics company located in San Francisco which was cofounded by 3 friends. Their mission is to bring artificial intelligence to consumer products that have a real world impact. Anki has announced their presence with authority, introducing their first product Anki Drive, at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference on June 10th. We think this is very impressive technology with endless real world possibilities. Imagine a major drop in traffic accidents, no more slow cars in the fast lane, and it could be safe to texted and drive. If you are in your mid thirties or older, the Jetsons may come to mind. This technology won’t just be for gaming, it has the possibility to be in just about every aspect of our day to day lives. Just imagine……..

So what is ANKI Drive? The description below was taken directly from their site.
“At first glance, it’s a racing game that pits real cars against players and each other – but after playing for a few minutes, you’ll see what makes Anki Drive special: We are making the first video games in the real world, and our team has worked tirelessly on the robotics and AI challenges that this presents. Each car is equipped with sensors and intelligent software to make thousands of decisions every second. We use mobile devices not as remote controls, but as drivers for an immersive real-world experience. And we took great care to make sure that despite everything under the hood, the final experience is intuitive and entertaining.”
Anki Drive will be available this Fall exclusively on iOS. To learn more about Anki Drive, the App is currently available for free at the App Store.

We wish the crew at Anki all the best and look forward to their future products. Hmmm maybe an RC car that could flip itself back onto its wheels.
