Here are a few of the factors that should be considered for your workspace; size, lighting, electrical outlets, comfort and storage & organization.
Size: The more vehicles you have the more space you will require. If space permits, a dedicated area may be for you. If you don’t have a lot of space, something smaller and portable may be more suited for you. This article is about my dedicated space.
Lighting: This is pretty simple, you can’t have enough light. I overcame a lack of light, by purchasing a headlamp. It is surprisingly helpful.
Electrical Outlets: What tools are you going to use at your workspace? A lack of electrical outlets can be fixed, by the use of a power bar. Just give it some thought before you mount it. I have been known to use a solder station, a Dremel, a heat gun, various chargers, a radio, and a laptop. Not all at once, but having multiple outlets in a couple of places, really helps.
Comfort: Ok this is pretty simple. Try and keep your frequently used items, such as tools, parts, and rags with in arms reach. This really makes life easier.
Storage & Organization: This is a crazy little hobby; it is easy to accumulate so many little things. Make sure you have enough drawers, bins, and shelves; this will help keep things clean. Put things back in their place when you’re done. This will really save you so much time, especially when doing major repairs, or a build.
